Senior Signing Day 2014

Senior Signing Day, a tradition we began in 2001, is a celebration of our graduating seniors’ next step in their journey towards college graduation.  At this year’s Senior Signing Day on April 29, after signing their letters of intent with their families, our 464 seniors will declare which college or university they will be matriculating to so that the YES Prep family and community can share in their accomplishments and aspirations.  This year, more than 10,000 students, staff, and guests will pack the Toyota Center for this moving event!

Visit on April 29 to watch the event live!

This year our keynote speaker is Michelle Rhee, a Teach For America alumnus, former Chancellor for DC Public Schools, founder of StudentsFirst and author of Radical.  Click here to learn more about Rhee.

In the words of our founder, Chris Barbic, at the 2010 Senior Signing Day:

“Senior Signing Day, YES Prep-style, is our take on a ceremony that traditionally is reserved for star athletes playing big-time Division 1 sports.  And while those are impressive accomplishments, we believe the accomplishments of the seniors here today deserve the same, if not more, attention because each one of these guys represents living, breathing, proof of the hypothesis that we set out to prove twelve years ago: any student regardless of zip code, ethnicity, or income level, any student can graduate from high school and can attend and complete a four year college, when they’re given access to the same opportunities and the same resources that students receive in great private schools and in great suburban public schools.”
