YES Prep recently hosted its inaugural ACE by ACE event, inviting families to participate in workshops on health, financial literacy, and legal services while students learned about hip-hop dance, painting, and Texas wildlife. Bank of America sponsored the financial literacy sessions, offering YES Prep parents guidance on budgeting tools and savings plans.
“The services and resources provided at the ACE by ACE event empower YES Prep families to become more knowledgeable and to seek services they were not aware of, which can aid their efforts to support their children to and through college,” stated Maria Maradiaga, YES Prep’s ACE Family Engagement Specialist.
Bank of America employees volunteered their time, providing sessions in both Spanish and English, as well as interactive workbooks, toolkits, and guides. Additionally, Bank of America donated extra workbooks for parents who were unable to attend the event.
“We are committed to building and strengthening our partnerships with organizations, such as YES Prep, who understand the importance of education in propelling young people in our community toward long-term success,” said Hong Ogle, President of Bank of America Houston, “Through our partnership, our employees have provided financial education to YES Prep parents to ensure they are taking the rights steps to better money habits and budgeting for their children’s college expenses.”
Not only did Bank of America volunteer for ACE by ACE, but they also awarded $15,000 to YES Prep through a local grant initiative. Soon after awarding the grant, local Bank of America employees hosted a reception at a venue where all profits from that month could benefit YES Prep students. Thanks in part to the support of Bank of America employees, YES Prep received nearly $18,000 from the local venue. These contributions help YES Prep continue to grow while maintaining high academic achievement results.
