Now, More Than Ever, Passionate Educators Needed in Houston

Less than two weeks following Hurricane Harvey, YES Prep students – over 12,000 of them – filled classrooms and got to work with urgency and purpose. Our work at YES Prep has always been critical, but in the wake of wide-spread flooding across Houston, YES Prep students are in even greater need of an exceptional education and teachers and staff who will support them to achieve their wildest goals. On October 2nd, we will launch our 2018-2019 teacher application and begin the search for passionate and driven educators who will help us fulfill our mission of increasing the number of students from Houston’s most underserved communities who graduate from college prepared to lead.

Does this mission speak to you? Good. We need you now, more than ever. Read on to learn more about our application process and recruitment opportunities for this upcoming school year.

A rigorous and efficient interview process

ProcessApply for one of our 4 application deadlines this year, and engage in a rigorous and efficient 3-step process. Our process includes an application, video interview and a final, in-person interview, which includes a sample lesson.

  • YES Prep’s teacher application takes most candidates between 1-2 hours to complete, but we encourage you to take your time and ask a friend to proofread your essays before you submit. Check out our application check-list.
  • Our video interview is designed to be quick and easy to schedule, and you can learn more about the video interview process.
  • Last but not least, select candidates are invited to a final interview at one of our campuses. We love this step because it gives you a chance to see a YES Prep school in-action, and for us to get to know you better. Check out our sample lesson tips.

The chance to be a Founder

You have the opportunity to be on the founding staff of our newest campus, Campus 18. Founding a campus means that you contribute to building the culture of a campus and develop the founding class of students. Several of our campuses are still growing out a grade a year, including White Oak, Southside, Eisenhower High School, and Northbrook High School. You can learn about all YES Prep schools by clicking on the schools tab of our website.
