Zicuria Ussery is about to complete her first semester of teaching! She currently serves as an 8th Grade English/Language Arts teacher at YES Prep Hoffman and is a recent graduate of Spelman College, where she majored in English. Read what she has to share about her first semester below:
After choosing YES and attending Teaching Excellence, I realized that I had made the best decision of my life. The amount of support and guidance that I received over the summer was matched and surpassed when I entered the classroom at Hoffman. I left Teaching Excellence feeling equipped with a treasure chest of tools for instructional alignment, classroom management, and embracing the journey of a first-year teacher. Teaching Excellence helped make the mission of YES more tangible and validated all of the great things that I heard about YES.
