The first weekend of February was cause for celebration in our nation’s capital for many YES Prep staff members. It was the Teach for America 25th Anniversary Summit, an event drawing over 15,000 attendees. Founder Chris Barbic is a TFA alumnus, and, currently, 239 of YES Prep’s 1,100 employees are TFA corps members or alumni.
YES Prep hosted a No Limits happy hour for TFA Summit attendees. The event drew over 200 staff members, former staff members, friends of YES Prep, and people interested in working at YES Prep. The event was an opportunity for colleagues and friends to connect and to recommit to the work they share.
YES Prep also had a booth at the Summit’s Exhibitor’s Fair. Recruitment representatives, as well as home office and school leaders, spoke to interested individuals about YES Prep during the fair.
Additionally, YES Prep Advanced Teacher, Craig Brandenburg, spoke at the main event about “teaching for the cycle,” a phrase that refers to teaching all siblings within a family.
It was so inspiring to be in an arena with 15,000 people committed to doing whatever it takes for educational equity.
